Nutrition for diabetics by Rubina Ratnakar

Diabetes is a health issue faced by people of all ages these days. It is a problem that is caused due to irregular production of glucose in the body. The hormone that is responsible for the regulation of glucose levels is insulin. When the body is not able to secrete enough insulin, the body sugar level either rises or falls abruptly. This state is what we call diabetes. Diabetes can be a long-term problem whereas you can get out of the problem if you take the right step. In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar lists some tips for the improvement of nutrition for diabetic people.

Salt is the basic component of all the food we eat. It is really hard to avoid salt in our diet. Too much salt can increase your blood pressure as well. If you are suffering from diabetes, you should try to avoid too much salt as you are more prone to fall into the prey of hypertension as well.

Choose the carbohydrates you eat wisely. You cannot completely avoid them but you can filter out the good ones. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and unsweetened dairy products are some examples of carbohydrates that are very beneficial for us.

The number of fruits and vegetables you eat in diabetes is very important. Many people think that fruits contain sugar and should be avoided. Well in reality the sugar in fruits is natural sugar and does not harm our bodies. So, the next time you hesitate from eating fruit, don’t think twice, go for it! Foods like chocolates and candies contain processed sugar and can raise your sugar level.

Try to cut out sugar from your diet. If you do this, most of your problems will be solved. You can switch to low-sugar or no-sugar artificial sweeteners. Use them instead of sugar. Nowadays, many eateries make sugar-free foods as diabetes is becoming a common problem. Look at the labels of everything you buy to eat.
