Dieting is a popular form of fitness activity these days. Along with exercise, people believe in modifying their diet so that they can get fit and fine more easily. Since dieting is gaining a lot of popularity there are many rumors floating around us. In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar gives some myths on dieting that need to be stopped and passed on as something non-important.
The first myth about dieting is that skipping breakfast will help you in losing weight faster and in an easier way. This is not true. Skipping breakfast will make you hungry due to which you are more prone to having snacks and putting on unnecessary weight. Do not starve yourself, eat all the meals.
Avoiding the foods you like, will not help you in losing weight. It can leave you in temptation and you will more easily be ready to leave your diet in between. Eat the things you enjoy when and as you like. You can limit them but don’t totally avoid them.
Many times, we say that we are working out or dieting because we want to lose weight from our belly or from our thighs. This is not true. You cannot lose weight from a particular part. If you lose weight, you will lose it from your whole body. So, there is no diet or workout specific to your body parts. You will lose weight overall.
Carbs make you fat. This is not true. Putting on weight is related to the number of calories we consume instead of the number of carbohydrates. There is no need to abandon carbohydrates from your diet, you just need to monitor the number of calories you take.
Do not buy foods that are labeled low-fat. These foods are not low in fat, as they would have ingredients that would have very high-calorie content.
You do not need to get into a very intense and hard workout to lose weight. Even daily activities like cleaning and gardening can help you in losing weight.
