Many people are turning Vegan these days. They completely eliminate all kinds of meats and dairy products as well. Some people are of the view that they can’t avoid dairy products like milk, butter, and cream. So, there is an ambiguity on this matter. The major question arising in this blog is, is dairy good or bad? In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar tries to discuss the pros and cons of dairy products.
Milk is a nutrient-rich product and is consumed in large amounts all across the globe. If we look at the purpose of drinking milk, it is for kids to grow. Only humans are the organisms who drink milk in their adulthood. All the other organisms do not drink milk after their childhood. So, it is kind of not a necessity for growth. On the other hand, milk is rich in nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, riboflavin, vitamin B12, potassium, and phosphorus. Cheese and butter are less nutritious as compared to milk.
One major problem of having dairy products is lactose intolerance. According to a study, every 3 out of 4 people in the world are lactose intolerant. Lactose is the main component of all dairy products. Some symptoms and effects of lactose intolerance are bloating, stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea.
Dairy products are rich in calcium making them a very attractive option. Dairy products have a higher amount of calcium than any other type of food. Some benefits of consuming milk products are strengthening of bones, lowered risk of obesity, and lowered risk of Type 2 diabetes as well.
For the people who have been consuming dairy products right from their childhood, it can be quite difficult to leave them at once. There are some products that can be consumed without causing any problems. Milk from grass-fed cows and fermented dairy products like yogurt are products that do not have any kind of harm to our bodies.
